Liturgical Ministries at St. Mary's
Training is provided for all ministries listed here.
If you are interested in signing up for any of the ministries listed, please call the parish office.
Our Greeters and Ushers are the first people one meets upon entering St. Mary's Church. They welcome all who come to worship, help with seating, take up the collection, assist with the flow of the Communion Procession, and hand out bulletins after Mass.
Lectors are those men and women who proclaim the Word at our Sunday Masses and other liturgical celebrations. Lectors must be able to proclaim clearly and with understanding of the scriptures provided.
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
These ministers of Holy Communion assist the priest in distribution of the Eucharist at Mass. Bringing Communion to the sick (Homebound Ministry) is also an important ministry that is organized separately.
Music is an essential element of all liturgical celebrations. All musicians, singers, and instrumentalists are welcome to share their gifts with the parish community. Multiple opportunities exist at St. Mary's for participation: Cantors, Adult Choir, Funeral Choir and instrumental ensembles.
These young people assist the priest at liturgical celebrations. This ministry is open to boys and girls who have received First Eucharist.
An alternate Liturgy of the Word, geared to a child's level of understanding, is normally offered at the 9:00am Mass. The children are dismissed from the assembly before the first scripture reading and return to the assembly at the time of the Offertory. Children 4 to 11 years old are invited to attend.
